My parents are fine. Their house was damaged in the storm. There is a leak in at least two spots in the roof and they had water coming down the walls in the gameroom - which caused a picture to come crashing down. Water was also coming in through the formal dining room, but my brother caught this one and they had to move all of the furniture out of the room quickly. The water was already going into the kitchen from the formal dining room. The vinyl siding on the outside of the house was also damaged in some places. They do not expect to be going back to work for a few weeks because Galveston was damaged so badly. They are currently not allowing anyone into Galveston because of the damage and they are not sure if the Causeway is drivable. Please pray for everyone in Galveston, Houston, and all areas hit by Ike.
Hurricane Ike is currently headed for the Texas Coast - where ALL of my family lives. It is currently a Category 2 right now and they expect it to strengthen to a 3 or 4 by the time it hits land. Many of the schools and businesses in Galveston County have already closed until Monday and some of my parents' neighbors have started boarding their houses up. Please pray that this storm does not strengthen and that it does not cause any harm.
